Bea Kohner, Bruised Mango, 2026

Bruised Mango is my way of holding onto memory while learning how to let it change. The collection draws from my childhood and my relationship with my family, using the mango as a metaphor for a body that ripens, softens, and eventually bruises. The garments begin full and protected through rounded silhouettes and sheer layers, then shift to forms that split, fray, and expose what is underneath. This reflects my movement from innocence into an awareness of loss. I work with secondhand deadstock materials to preserve the life a garment holds. Through draping, knitting, and hand-applied details, each piece carries evidence of touch and time. This collection considers how memory lives in the body, and how clothing can hold what I cannot fully keep.
