April Rosas, Fragility, 2026
My thesis collection explores the quiet tension between restriction and flow, reflecting on illness, and the resilience of the human body. A year ago, I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), a chronic condition that narrows the arteries and restricts oxygen flow, making breathing feel constricted. From this experience, water emerged as a central metaphor. Like oxygen moving through the lungs, water pushes through narrow channels, adapting and flowing under pressure. Redefining evening wear as modern and intentional, the collection balances a softness and hardness through fabrics and eco-resin elements, evoking the movement of water and exploring how vulnerability and resilience can coexist with the body.
