The Center for Interdisciplinary Studies provides opportunities for students, faculty, and staff across departments to engage in cross-disciplinary initiatives. These projects are very specifically positioned at the intersections of various fields and concretized in multitudes of ways—and not tied to a particular discipline or even a particular format.
Projects are sometimes undertaken in partnership with other Pratt divisions and may involve outside organizations. They incentivize stakeholders to collaborate and engage in various ways with each other and wider communities, and to present innovative pieces, collective works, solution-based endeavors, and bold undertakings.
These projects also continue the Center’s tradition of bringing various processes related to artistic, intellectual, and design prac- tices into a visible arena. They ultimately hope to open up new paths, produce scholarship, share new insights, and inspire adventurous actions, works, and visionary practice.
The Center becomes a space of inquiry and action, a universe of exploration and experimentation, a supportive environment where works-in-progress can be developed, where research-in-action can be presented, where new concepts and framings can be generated, where new ventures can be launched.
