Network of Interdisciplinary Clusters

Interdisciplinarity at Pratt happens along these two main axes/universes: through The Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, and through the Interdisciplinary Clusters.

  1. The centralized unit (The Center for Interdisciplinary Studies):
    • creates/directs an integrative curricular sphere;
    • generates and implements initiatives and projects that aid all stakeholders in all spheres;
    • communicates and collaborates with departments, schools, enrollment, advising and other offices;
    • systematizes and sustains: integrative learning through interactions between Foundation, Gen Ed and PICs;
    • facilitates and aggregates the decentralized work.
  2. The decentralized ventures of various departments and schools–which we dub “interdisciplinary Clusters”– integrate inter/trans/neo disciplinary courses, projects, and research, and provide a range of research and practice opportunities for students and faculty. Interdisciplinary Clusters, which are, by definition, always being created and developed by various schools, divisions, and groups.

These, along with events, exhibitions, and other cross-departmental and cross-school programming, allow students and faculty to optimize the interdisciplinary venture at Pratt.
