Spring Welcome Message From President Bronet

Resource

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Welcome back to campus and happy New Year. I hope you had an enjoyable and energizing break and are excited to begin an extraordinary spring semester. As classes start, we are also celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Week with several events at Pratt, and I hope to see you there.

We accomplished a lot last fall, and made important progress in the development of the Institute’s next Strategic Plan. The Pratt community’s strong commitment to our collective future was evident in the open planning sessions, and I’m grateful to all who took part in establishing a robust framework and foundational priorities for the Institute’s growth and continued success.

A draft of the Strategic Plan will soon be shared with the Pratt community for review and feedback. Your contributions are invaluable, and I encourage your continued engagement as we move through this next phase. Learn more about the Strategic Plan and how you can participate.

The first semester also saw a strong Pratt presence at Art Basel in Miami with students, faculty, and alumni involved, as well as continued progress on the architectural design for our transformative new School of Art building. More about the School of Art will be shared as the term unfolds.

And now, I look forward to this semester’s explorations and collaborations, with new leadership in key areas and new faculty in many departments. I look forward to your classrooms and studios filled with critical, creative, and important investigations, and the profound impact of your projects in our local and global communities.

Last year’s Pratt Shows, with works by graduating students in disciplines from across the Institute, demonstrated remarkable range and depth. This year’s Shows will bring even broader audiences to campus, with more events to showcase and celebrate your ambitious work. The Pratt Research Open House will take place once again in March, with a full day of events, and more than 50 research projects led by our faculty, staff, and students. Similar to Pratt Shows, the Open House will be a dynamic experience of the incredible research happening across the Institute.

It will be a pleasure to see you on campus and learn about your latest collaborations and inquiries, and I wish you all the best for a wonderful 2019.

Sincerely,

Frances Bronet Signature
