In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK), Pratt is hosting MLK Week from January 21 to 26, 2019, to celebrate his legacy of social justice, unity, and empowerment.

January 24 – Breaking Bread – Student Union, 6–8 PM

A community event celebrating and reflecting on the works and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Keynote address by Rob Fields, President & Executive Director of the Weeksville Heritage Center, with art, poems, drawings, and performances by Pratt students, faculty, and staff.

January 25 – Movie Screening of King in the Wilderness– Student Union, 7–9 PM

Community movie screening of King in the Wilderness, a film that chronicles the last years of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life.

January 26 – MLK Day of Service – Father’s Heart Ministries, 543-545 East 11th Street 10009, New York, NY (Manhattan), 8 AM–12 PM

Day of service event with Father’s Heart Ministries in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Students will meet at Pratt’s Brooklyn campus at 6 AM to travel to Manhattan. Faculty and staff are welcome to join.

MLK Week is co-sponsored by The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, The Center for Equity & Inclusion, The Black Student Union, The Pratt Black Lives Matter Student Group, The Black Lives Matter Pratt, Community Service Board, and The Office of Student Involvement.
