New Full-Time Faculty
The Office of the Provost facilitates a first-year mentorship program for new full-time faculty. This program aims to foster a sense of community and belonging for new faculty, create opportunities to learn from established faculty members, and assist faculty in developing their career pathways. Launched in 2023, the program has served more than 30 new faculty members, who report high satisfaction with the program and their mentor.
Mentees are paired with a tenured faculty member inside or outside of their department/school based on the mentee’s preference and mutual interests. New full-time faculty are contacted in late summer before classes start with information about the program. For questions about the program, please contact provaa@pratt.edu.
Mentors must be full-time tenured faculty, and are compensated for training as part of the program. Serving as a mentor can be a rewarding opportunity to share wisdom, reflect on one’s own experience as a faculty member, and help build the future of the Pratt community.
Part-Time Faculty
Pratt’s Faculty Futures: Part-Time Faculty Mentorship Program invests in the well-being and professional success of part-time faculty and fosters a thriving campus community of artists, creative professionals, scholars, students, and educators. Launched in the 2025–26 academic year as a collaboration between the Office of the Provost and a faculty-governed working group, Faculty Futures co-creates flexible networks for mentoring, offering multiple connections and diverse formats beyond conventional, hierarchical mentor-mentee pairings. The program organizes constellations of small mentoring groups who self-direct their distributed activities, alongside a program of collaborative events and workshops, designed to support faculty through exposure to professional development topics and access to teaching and making resources across campus.
Goals of the program include supporting part-time faculty well-being, professional development, academic advancement, and community building through engagement with professional development opportunities, evaluating the understanding of advancement requirements, and highlighting campus resources. The program is intended to also provide impact on intangible benefits, such as creating a sense of belonging, reduced isolation, and increased agency.
This program currently engages part time faculty with visiting status, with more than two years of experience teaching at Pratt, and matches them with tenured part-time and full-time faculty. Additional programming for adjunct part-time faculty will be piloted in 2026–27, based on interest. Calls for participation surveys are sent out to faculty through the Office of the Provost at the end of the academic year for the next year’s program cohort.
For more information about the program or to request participation as a mentor or mentee, please email Laurel Voss, lvoss@pratt.edu.
Part-Time Faculty Mentorship At-A-Glance Booklet
