Changes to Vaccination and Booster Requirements (May 11, 2023)

Policy

From: Pratt Institute
Date: Thursday, May 11, 2023
Subject: Changes to Vaccination and Booster Requirements

Dear Pratt Community,

Important changes to our COVID-19 policy will take effect on Thursday, May 11, 2023, to align with the May 11 expiration of the federal Public Health Emergency (PHE) for COVID-19 declared under Section 319 of the Public Health Service (PHS) Act.

Throughout the pandemic, we have made informed changes to Pratt’s health-related policies and procedures based on city, state, and federal guidelines, and as a community we have responded with care, resilience, and diligence to mitigate the impact of the virus. Aligned with the latest changes in federal guidelines, the following revisions to Pratt’s requirements will take full effect on May 11, 2023:

Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations, boosters, and exemptions will no longer be required for new or current Pratt students, faculty, or staff, and will no longer be a determining factor for Pratt ID access to campus facilities. Pratt strongly encourages all community members to remain up to date with the latest COVID-19 vaccines and boosters. Pratt will continue to follow guidance from the CDC, as well as city, state, and federal directives, and may revise policies if circumstances require.
Reporting of new cases of COVID-19 will continue. We ask that community members continue to report positive cases of COVID-19 via the existing system. Community members are also strongly encouraged to test if they are experiencing symptoms of the virus or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. Please stay home if you are sick and consult with your medical provider or student Health Services, as needed.
Additional guidance on preventing the spread of the virus, finding resources, and getting help if you become ill will continue to be available on the Back to Pratt website, along with FAQs. We also acknowledge the real and continuing impact of the pandemic and encourage you to explore our current well-being resources.

We thank all members of our community for your vigilance and care throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and ask that you continue to support our efforts to keep our community safe and healthy.

Sincerely,
