Advising Philosophy Statement
My advising philosophy is rooted in a developmental approach, where I guide students through their educational journey while fostering their personal and academic growth. I believe that higher education empowers students to explore their identities, expand their perspectives, and become thoughtful, contributing members of society. As an advisor, I am dedicated to assisting students in cultivating their interests, navigating course selections, and accessing essential support services. I strive to keep students on track for graduation while encouraging them to pursue their passions and build meaningful relationships with artists, teachers, and their campus community.
I am guided by the values of collaboration, equity, responsibility, empathy, and integrity, which I consider vital for establishing strong advisor-advisee relationships and promoting academic success. I am committed to creating a supportive and inclusive advising environment through active listening and advocacy. I empower students to take ownership of their education, encouraging them to make informed decisions and take responsibility for their academic journeys.
