Biography
Tanvi is a Visiting Professor in the Communication Design department at Pratt Institute.
She is a design technologist working at the intersection of data, aesthetics, and the humanities. She currently serves as a designer contributing to the Atlanta Interdisciplinary AI Network and BIPOC Design History. She is the co-author of Data by Design: A History in Five Charts, forthcoming from MIT Press in 2026.
Previously, Tanvi worked as a Design Technologist at Pentagram, Public Policy Lab, and Spotify. She holds an MSc in Human-Computer Interaction from New York University and a BFA in Graphic Design and Political Theory from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Based in Brooklyn, she shares her home with two cats, Yuchi and Bubbles. She also curates the world’s largest repository of frog-themed design artifacts.
