Simon Arizpe is an award winning paper engineer and illustrator based in Brooklyn, NY. His pop-up book work has received the Award of Excellence from the Society of Illustrators and the Museum of Comic Book Art and Cartooning. The Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum Library and the Columbia University Library have acquired his work for their rare book collections.

A graduate of Pratt Institute, Simon has also worked as the senior paper engineer and illustrator at the New York Times best selling pop-up book studios of Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart for nine years. Working on every aspect of pop-up book design: from concept and engineering to mass production and printing on over 25 books, as well as their line of award winning holiday cards for the MoMA design store in New York City. Some of Simon’s other notable clients include: Workman Publishing, Fantagraphics Books, Google, Disney, Paramount Pictures, DC Comics, IFC, Blizzard, and Hasbro Toys.

In addition to his design work, Simon has lectured on the subject of paper engineering at The Pratt Institute, Otis College of Art and Design, St. Ann’s School for the Arts, NJIT, The Montana Book Festival, and The Tucson Festival of Books.
