Adjunct Professor - CCE

A man with a bald head and a thick, graying beard looks out of frame while sitting indoors. He wears large dark-framed glasses and a textured cardigan over a white shirt. The lighting is soft, and the photo is in black and white.

Michael L Kelly is a Brooklyn-based designer, educator, and writer who does everything he can to make those roles overlap, ideally with civic engagement somewhere in the mix. He has worked for and with small non-profits and large companies around the world, was a contributing author to The Phaidon Archive of Graphic Design, and is Creative Director for a small mapmaking company, Good Foot Enterprises. He is also a co-founder and co-editor of perhaps magazine.

At Pratt, Michael teaches core and elective courses in the School of Design and School of Information, and is part of the RAMP working group in the School of Architecture. He teaches the Design Corps course, which provides pro-bono work for non-profits and community organizations, directs Pratt’s Participatory Budgeting collaboration with New York City Council District 35, and currently serves as the Civic Engagement and Curriculum Faculty Coordinator through the Office of the Provost.
