The Textile Dye Garden at Pratt Institute
The Textile Dye Garden at Pratt Institute integrates traditional ecological knowledge with contemporary sustainability practices to generate research, community engagement, and cross-institutional dialogue. Established in spring 2021 through The Hazel Siegel Textile Dye Garden Exploration Fund, the garden grows plants selected for their natural dyeing properties and serves as a living bridge between historical knowledge systems, contemporary design innovation, and the next generation of practitioners. For 2026, the exhibition expands to present alongside the Textile Research Lab (TRL), feature work from the Indigo Research Residency, and highlight contributions from STEP, Pratt's Saturday program for high school students.
