Craig Fahner is an artist, musician, educator, and researcher whose work explores the complex relationships between media technologies, digital culture, and human experience. Fahner’s creative practice spans sound, video, interactive systems, virtual environments, and web-based artworks that question how technology shapes sociality.

Fahner’s PhD dissertation, entitled Inverting the Algorithmic Gaze: Confronting Platform Power Through Media Artworks, was supported by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council CGS scholarship. His academic research intersects with his artistic production, examining how invisible infrastructures – from recommendation algorithms to surveillance technologies to networked systems – influence social and cultural processes.

In his artistic work, Fahner often reimagines the unseen: whether through installations that make electromagnetic fields perceptible as sound, or digital pieces that critique data-driven attention economies. His projects have been exhibited internationally at venues including the Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art, the Device Art Triennial in Zagreb, Croatia, and the Data Through Design exhibition in Brooklyn. Alongside his visual and media art, Fahner is an active touring and recording musician, having played in groups such as Motorists and Fuses, and engineered recordings for dozens of artists.
