Biography
Cara Dellatte is the Director of Collections and Library Services at the International Center of Photography (ICP), where she leads the stewardship, preservation, and accessibility of one of the world’s foremost photography collections. Since assuming the role in October 2024, she has focused on strengthening collection management practices, expanding access to archival resources, and advancing initiatives that support scholarship, exhibitions, and public engagement.
With more than twenty years of experience as an archivist, curator, librarian, educator, and academic leader, she has built a distinguished career developing collections, managing archives, and leading library programs across a range of cultural institutions. Her work centered on preserving cultural heritage materials while increasing their accessibility to researchers, students, and the public.
She earned a Master of Library Science from Queens College, where she also completed a certificate in Archives and Records Management. She is currently completing a second master’s degree in History at the College of Staten Island, further deepening her expertise in historical research, archival practice, and cultural stewardship.
Among her notable leadership achievements, she curated Equal Rights Amendment: A Century of Speaking Out at the New York Public Library. The exhibition highlighted the history of advocacy for constitutional gender equality and reflected her longstanding commitment to public history, civic engagement, and social justice. Through her leadership, scholarship, and teaching, she has fostered meaningful connections between cultural collections and the communities they serve.
