What are your individual roles and responsibilities?

The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Engineering and Facilities provides strategic and operational leadership for engineering, infrastructure, facilities and operations management, energy and sustainability, and capital improvement initiatives across hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, and academic healthcare environments, including the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The role oversees the planning, maintenance, compliance, and execution of complex MEP/FP/FA systems, construction projects, and facility operations to ensure safe, efficient, and regulatory-compliant environments that support patient care, research, and academic excellence.

Working collaboratively with executive leadership, clinical operations, consultants, contractors, and campus engineering teams, as the AVP managing multidisciplinary operations, emergency management preparedness, vendor and contract administration, and long-term infrastructure planning for mission-critical facilities. The position also directs capital improvement programs, systemwide engineering initiatives, and operational strategies that combine nationally recognized healthcare, research, and academic standards with excellence in facilities and engineering management.

In addition to executive responsibilities, I serve as an Adjunct Professor at Pratt Institute, teaching MEP Engineering System for the Construction Management Program and contributing to the development of the next generation of design and construction professionals.

How do you interact with your colleagues and other industry partners/peers?

I interact with colleagues and industry partners through a collaborative, solutions-oriented, and professional approach focused on clear communication and accountability. I work closely with executive leadership, clinical teams, engineers, architects, consultants, contractors, and vendors to align operational and project goals. I value teamwork, responsiveness, and building strong professional relationships based on trust and mutual respect. My focus is on proactive coordination and problem-solving to successfully deliver complex healthcare and infrastructure initiatives. 

What additional tasks do you take on above and beyond your role?

 Beyond my primary role, I actively support cross-functional initiatives involving engineering operations, capital planning, infrastructure assessments, and emergency response coordination. I frequently assist with strategic planning, project recovery efforts, stakeholder coordination, and mentoring team members to help improve operational efficiency and project delivery. I also contribute to process improvements, regulatory compliance reviews, and executive-level reporting for complex healthcare and facilities initiatives. Additionally, I take initiative in strengthening collaboration between facilities, clinical operations, design, and construction teams to support long-term organizational goals.

Significant milestones and accomplishments?

As Associate Vice President (AVP) of Engineering and Facilities, led comprehensive engineering infrastructure reviews and multidisciplinary coordination efforts for MEP/FP/FA projects across multiple hospital campuses, collaborating closely with Directors/Chief Engineers, Engineers, Architects, and Design & Construction management teams. Developed and implemented engineering infrastructure major projects and Owner’s Recommendation Lists that improved communication, project documentation, accountability, and alignment with operational and capital project goals.

Provided leadership in multicampus Facilities Coordination and Space Planning meetings, serving as leadership orientation for Engineering, Operations, and Design & Construction teams while contributing innovative technical solutions and strategic problem-solving for complex healthcare infrastructure initiatives. Successfully organized and streamlined the Re-Face Projects Program across campuses by implementing engineering workflows, project file systems, HLE processes, Strata integration, and financial tracking systems to improve operational efficiency and transition from legacy procedures.

Contributed to the development and oversight of a multi-year engineering infrastructure and capital improvement plan consisting of 35+ projects focused on major campus upgrades, energy efficiency, sustainability initiatives, deferred maintenance reduction, and modernization of critical healthcare infrastructure systems. These initiatives included strategic planning for facility resiliency, operational continuity, utility infrastructure improvements, and long-term campus enhancement programs supporting hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Additionally, supported engineering and construction leadership through detailed Preliminary Assessments, Field Reports, Punch Lists, infrastructure evaluations, and project recovery efforts, demonstrating strong analytical, organizational, and executive leadership capabilities within mission-critical healthcare environments.
