Biography
Anthony Mekel is currently employed at CBRE on the Morgan Stanley account as their Director of Design Management Americas. He has over 29 years of experience in the fields of architecture and interior design, having graduated from Pratt Institute in 1993 with a Bachelors of Architecture.
Anthony’s experience includes a broad range of projects from healthcare to dot-com and new media, specializing in corporate interiors while working at firms including : HLW International LLP, JJ Falk Design, HOK, TPG Architecture, Mancini-Duffy, and RBS+D. His larger projects include headquarters design for Canon USA, CNBC Global, and Univision and multiple project locations for Deloitte, JPMorgan Chase, Yahoo!, and American Express.
Anthony is a self-taught AutoCAD draftsman and digital designer who originally began his career drafting by hand. He has spent the last 22 years developing a successful method for teaching AutoCAD as the foundation tool in a student’s digital design skillset. He has written his own syllabus which evolves with each new version of the software application.
Anthony’s teaches AutoCAD using the Concept / Command / Exercise method that stresses drafting accuracy, effective computer workflow / habits and focuses on using the program as a design tool as well as a drafting tool.
