The minor in Coding and Data equips students with the foundational and applied skills to function effectively in our computationally and data-driven world: from understanding AI to computing for arts and humanities. The minor builds essential skills in programming, data analysis, and coding for the arts. It provides a grounding in coding and data literacy, complementing any major field of study.

To complete the minor, students take five courses in order to earn at least 15 credits:

Common Data Tools Menu (choose 1)
● MSCI-291C Quantitative Reasoning
● MSCI-302 Statistics

Applied Coding Menu (choose 1)
● MSCI-306 Creative Coding
● MSCI-308 Computing for Art/Humanities

Coding electives (choose additional 3)
● MSCI-306 Creative Coding
● MSCI-308 Computing for Art/Humanities
● MSCI-291C Quantitative Reasoning
● MSCI-491 Per$onal Finance
● MSCI-302 Statistics
● SS-350 Technology and Future of Work
● CDGD-410 Form and Code
● CDGD-414 Data Visualization

Two people work together at a desktop computer in a dimly lit room. One person sits in front of the monitor while the other stands beside them holding a cup and looking at the screen. An arcade game machine and bookshelves are visible in the background, and a round overhead light illuminates the space.
A person wearing glasses sits at a desk using a computer in a bright office setting. They hold a mouse with one hand and type with the other while looking at a large monitor displaying a 3D modeling or design interface. A keyboard and cables rest on the desk, and daylight enters from a nearby window.
