Meet in the Rose Garden behind the Library on Pratt's Brooklyn Campus

Laura Pardo

Song is a workshop/participatory vocal performance that explores presence as the root of vocalization. Singer Dorian Wood invites all types of voices, regardless of singing skill, to engage in a series of guided exercises and prompts, culminating in a roaming sonic infiltration on the campus of Pratt.

Wood poses the following: as we each navigate ways to stay connected to our communities in times of oppression and uncertainty, feelings of discouragement may arise and thus impact the importance of “showing up”. But when we do, how do we each make ourselves known? What can our respective voices do when we are intentional in body and heart? Can a whisper, a sigh or a delicate hum reverberate as a thunderclap?
