A Critical Conversations Event

New York City communities have deep knowledge about their neighborhoods. In the absence of a long-term city plan, community input through the public review process is key to ensuring land use projects meet local needs. How can public input help ensure equitable development while addressing the affordable housing crisis?

From October 25 to November 4, voters can decide how community input shapes future affordable housing and land use through ballot proposals to amend the City Charter.

Proposals 2, 3, and 4 include changes to which land use applications may be expedited, how affordable housing projects are reviewed, and how different perspectives are balanced in the process.

On October 21 at 12pm, Pratt Center will host a webinar to unpack how these proposals will impact the ability of community members to have a voice in land use decisions. We’ll also discuss how public review can strengthen efforts to ensure affordability and that meet future land use needs of neighborhoods at risk of displacement.
