Exquisite Relations
August 4 – September 27, 2025 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Rubelle and Norman Schafler Gallery, Chemistry Building, 1st Floor, 200 Willoughby Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11205

Reception: Tuesday, September 16, 2025 5-7PM
The Dean of the School of Art, Jorge Oliver, is proud to present Exquisite Relations, co-curated by Pratt alums Olli Toppeta (’22) and Dylan Kaleikaumaka Hill (’23).
This exhibition showcases the work of 16 students and alumni whose work exists within and explores the queer aesthetic including the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, non-binary, pansexual, two-spirit, intersex (LGBTQIA+) experience.
In collaboration with the Pratt Department of Exhibitions, Exquisite Relations is on view from Aug. 4–Sept. 27.
We hope you will spend time with the exceptional work of our students and alumni, which spans painting, sculpture, photography, film and performance and that you will be inspired by this year’s curators, who have drawn on the work of French philosopher Gilles Deleuze and American author and theorist bell hooks to frame their vision—how queer identity is an unfurling site of becoming that invents and creates its own space to thrive.
As their curatorial statement explains, “Exquisite Relations not only reflects the complexities of queer life but also offers a space for exchange and connection, encouraging unfixed understandings of the nuanced journeys of queer experience.”
