Zakariya Abdul-Qadir, MFA Fine Arts, Painting/Drawing ’25 is featured in the Art Newspaper about an exhibition at Haul Gallery. “The exhibition’s only painting, Zakariya Abdul-Qadir’s Bound by threaded dreams (2025), a rough-hewn portrait of a seated man, utilises unstable materials in a bid to render the work less desirable to acquire. The artist used non-archival paint applied to an unprimed support made from two canvases stitched together like the seam on a baseball; each element will hasten the work’s deterioration over time. The painting nonetheless sold during the opening (for $300), but its impermanence undermines its potential to be an asset whose value appreciates in perpetuity.”

Inside My Worn Out Drawer, is an Ocean by Siwoo Kim, BFA Film ’25, will premiere at the 2026 National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY) in the “Pedal to the Mettle” block on Friday, March 27. The animated short follows Jooni, who, after running out on a suicide pact, wanders around Seoul and meets a classmate from elementary school.

The Pratt Center for Community Development released an EnergyFit Toolkit, “a new resource for communities, organizations, and policymakers to create programs that will help small homes be healthier and more energy efficient.” They will also be hosting a webinar walkthrough of the new toolkit on March 11 to help organizations jumpstart retrofit programs for 1-4 family homes.
