Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Information Michael Opper attended the 16th International and Interdisciplinary Conference on Applied Linguistics and Professional Practice (ALAPP) on September 27, where he presented his work titled “Evaluating consumer finance chatbot response design through the cooperation principle.” This work is part of his ongoing research project that adapts elements of discourse analysis to rate responses to be used in conversation design. Students Anisha Vonna, MSIXD ’27, and Kshitija Tammireddi, MSIXD ’27, joined this project earlier this summer and have regularly contributed judgments, redefined guidelines, and recalibrated scoring metrics.
