Violet Middlebrook, BFA Fine Arts ’26, received the Henriette Reiss Award for Artistic Endeavor from the Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School to further her education in visual arts. “She grew up in Upstate New York surrounded by deep nature, and theories of queer ecology are intrinsically linked to her life and work as a result. Beyond this her work explores themes of decay, regeneration, the abject, communal structures found in nature, and relations to her physical form. Her practice primarily involves painting, sculpture, and printmaking.”
