Foundation Professor Deborah Johnson created the videos for composer Sarah Kirkland Snider’s all-orchestral album Forward Into Light. “Eye of Mnemosyne reimagines George Eastman’s advertising phenomenon, the Kodak Girls, as muses of Mnemosyne, the Greek goddess of memory,” Johnson said, “chaptering how they heralded and shaped the ways Americans captured their lives through photography across eras of labor, leisure, family, nostalgia, war, and the fragments of memory. Created for live performance at Eastman Theatre, where projection, architecture, and orchestra became part of the frame.”
