Pratt Institute is committed to providing inclusive recreational and athletic opportunities for all students and welcomes requests to establish new intramural, recreational, club sport, or intercollegiate teams based on student interest and ability.
Request To Add a New Sport or Level of Play
The Institute is providing the following information to give direction on how any student can request a new sport or level of play.
Intramural and Recreational Sports
All intramural and recreational sport requests can be made to the Athletics and Recreation Department: recreation@pratt.edu or 718.636.3774.
- Any enrolled student at Pratt can request a recreational and intramural team. Recreational and intramural teams are formed based on interest and scheduled based on facility availability.
Intercollegiate and NCAA Sports
All intercollegiate and NCAA sport requests should be directed to the Director of Athletics, at athletics@pratt.edu or 718.636.3773.
- All requests for new sports or levels of play will be reviewed and considered based on the sport, number of participants interested, availability of competition, recruitment within the Institute’s normal competitive region, and the ability to sustain a viable team.
Club Sports
All club sport requests can be directed to the Office of Student Involvement at involvement@pratt.edu or 718.636.3422.
- Any enrolled Pratt student can create a new club. Please review the Registered Student Organization Handbook for more information on how to create a new club.
General Inquiries
The Institute accepts inquiries and requests from students, parents or guardians, staff, coaches, and other interested parties. All inquiries and requests will be reviewed and addressed.
The Institute prohibits discrimination based on any legally protected category, including sex and gender. The Institute’s Title IX, Nondiscrimination, and Anti-Harassment Policy sets forth the Institute’s nondiscrimination standards, outlines reporting options, and explains the procedures for resolving reported concerns.
