What is a TEC?

Many classrooms across campus are designated as a Technology Enhanced Classroom (TEC). These spaces are equipped with built-in multimedia equipment to aid in teaching and presenting material to students. TECs on the Brooklyn Campus as a result of a partnership between the Office of the Provost and Information Technology, with support from Academic Computing. 


Equipment

TECs provide a consistent and reliable technology platform that meets the needs of today's faculty and learners. All equipment is located within a dedicated instructors desk or podium, and all rooms are equipped with identical equipment, including:

  • LCD widescreen projector
  • HD DVD/BluRay player
  • Built-in computer running Macintosh OS with a full range of multimedia software
  • Laptop Input with built-in HDMI or VGA/ 3.5mm cables
  • Wireless Internet
  • Power Outlets for charging your devices
  • Document Camera for projecting physical materials
  • Built-in Apple cables for presenting from iPad, iPod, or iPhone devices
  • Stereo in-room speakers
  • Desktop-mounted touchscreen for controlling all classroom equipment

Room Access

This equipment is available to all instructors assigned to teach in any of these rooms. TECs are accessed via. door swipe-locks which respond to your PrattCard. Users are assigned access by their individual departments at the beginning of each semester. If you have problems accessing a room, please contact your department liaison or the PrattCard Office.

Support

Every TEC comes with full Service Desk support 9 AM–5 PM. If you encounter problems with the technology in your room, call 718.636.3765 or email services@pratt.edu.

Higgins Hall AV Center

Higgins Hall Center Room 017

The Higgins Hall AV center serves the School of Architecture, and provides Audio Visual support and equipment for faculty and staff within Higgins Hall. It is operated by Pratt Information Technology.

Equipment available for staff and faculty use includes the following:

Reservations

You may make reservations by contacting the AV Center directly by email, phone, or walk-in appointment. Please reserve equipment in advance, especially for midterms and finals.

Pickups and Returns

Equipment may be picked up from the AV Center office. Returns can be made during normal operating hours, or to Higgins Hall South Rm. 217 after-hours. Late returns will not incur fees, but may impact other classes and faculty.

Classroom Support

The AV Center supports all Technology Enhanced Classrooms (TECs) within Higgins Hall in cooperation with the Pratt Technology Desk.

  • 9am-5pm - Full Support by contacting the Pratt Technology Desk at 718-636-3765 or emailing techsupport@pratt.edu.
  • 8am-8pm - Partial Support by visiting our office in Room 017.
