"Playing Within The Lines"
I explored minimalism as expansiveness, where white space becomes both material and meaning. Within this openness, I used bold geometries to test how a single message could transform depending on its form. Each design contained the same information, yet presented it in a distinctly different way. By shifting scale, weight, and composition, I invited the viewer’s eye to move differently each time; sometimes led directly to the center, other times pulled to the edges or suspended in the blank space. This play with perception turned repetition into discovery, showing how minimalism can heighten attention and offer much more. The project revealed how design can expand meaning not by adding more, but by offering the viewer a puzzle worth solving.

Minimal white poster with a thin gray border and sparse, rotated labels. At top edges: “graphic Design Intensive” (vertical, left) and “25/SU_ADGD-205” (vertical, centered). Mid-left reads “Pratt Manhattan G Course Number: 2.” A tiny rotated “17” appears near center. Bottom left says “Room 5.” Large areas of empty space emphasize the typographic hierarchy.
Bold black-and-white typographic poster. Huge numerals and letters dominate: “25//” across the upper left and “ADG-205” stacked and rotated on the right; a massive “SU” anchors the lower left. Small vertical text reads “Graphic Design Intensive.” A small black-and-white photo of construction workers with a visible “DANGER” sign sits near center. Labels include “Course Number:” and a rotated “Room 517.”
Clean white layout with a grid of tiny type at upper left listing: “Pratt Manhattan,” “Graphic Design Intensive,” “Room 215,” and repeated lines of “Course Number: 25/SU ADGD 205.” Below, a small black-and-white photo shows workers on scaffolding beside a building with a posted “DANGER” sign. The rest of the page is open negative space.
Poster with the word “pratt” set vertically in light gray along the left margin and two oversized black lowercase letterforms filling the page like mirrored “r” shapes. Very small vertical captions read “Graphic Design Intensive Pratt Manhattan Room 517” and “Course Number: 25/SU ADGD-205.” A thick black bar spans the lower quarter of the layout on a white background.
