Impossible Landscape, Gosia Zielinska

Medium: Digital

Impossible Landscape imagines a place where opposing seasons, environments, and experiences coexist. Snow becomes sand, skiers move toward the beach, and a frozen landscape gradually meets the sea. Built primarily from my own aerial photography, the work transforms real places into an imagined landscape that could not exist in reality.

I interpret the theme of Abundance through the idea of possibilities - that something familiar can contain many different outcomes depending on how we choose to see and transform it. The photographs used in this work originally captured separate moments and locations, but through experimentation they became fragments of a new reality.

Created during my Photoshop course, this work grew out of an experimental approach to image-making. Rather than treating Photoshop as a tool for correction, the course encouraged me to see it as a space for exploration, a place to play, test, and push images past their original form. Impossible Landscape emerged from that shift in perspective: existing images stopped being finished objects and became raw material, starting points for something new.
