COMMON WORKS*: A Place Under Continuous Construction, Gaya Mucznik
Medium: Digital COMMON WORKS* is a branding project for a multidisciplinary design studio working across graphic and industrial design. The identity explores the relationship between materials, construction, objects, and visual communication, extending across typography, print, digital applications, photography, and spatial contexts. The project began with a lamp I designed and fabricated during a Metalworking course at Pratt SCPS. Working directly with metal introduced a different way of thinking through material, form, construction, and process. The lamp became the starting point for COMMON WORKS*, allowing me to translate the physical qualities of the object into a broader visual language. As the project continued to develop, I explored the connection between object-making and visual identity, expanding the initial idea across different mediums and building a visual system that could move between physical and graphic forms. In relation to Abundance, the project reflects how one creative experience can generate many others. A single object became the source of a larger visual world, moving between metalwork, graphic design, photography, print, digital media, and space. For me, abundance exists in this potential for ideas to multiply across disciplines through curiosity and experimentation. The asterisk in COMMON WORKS* refers to "a place under continuous construction," reflecting an identity that remains open to evolution, making, and new possibilities.
