Weather Alert

Monday, February 23, 2026

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As the worst of the blizzard subsides, please keep in mind that hazardous conditions are still very real. Heavy tree limbs, icy walkways, and snow removal equipment still present dangers to pedestrians. On Monday afternoon, Mayor Mamdani continued to “advise New Yorkers to stay safe and stay indoors as much as possible.” Anyone on Pratt’s campuses should take precautions and is urged to refrain from moving through areas where the Facilities staff are actively removing snow and ice.

Delayed Opening

Public access to Pratt’s campuses will continue to be restricted until noon, Tuesday, February 24, 2026, to give Facilities staff sufficient time to prepare the campus for safe use. Pratt community members who must be on the Brooklyn campus before noon will only have access through the main 200 Willoughby and the 215 Willoughby gates. Because our snow removal operation will be on-going throughout the week, on-campus parking will be limited. We encourage you to be mindful of this as you plan your commutes throughout the coming week.

Classes

Classes starting before noon on Tuesday will not meet in person. Instructors may ask students to complete asynchronous activities or may hold online class meetings or office hours, if feasible.

Classes starting after noon on Tuesday will follow their regularly scheduled modalities. Faculty members who have questions or concerns should contact their department chair to discuss options.

Following our weather and emergency policy, no instructor or student will be penalized if they are unable to participate due to weather or emergency conditions, such as power or internet outages, though students may be asked to complete any make-up work they have missed.

All faculty should work with their students to appropriately ensure the semester’s course content is not adversely affected.

Administrative Offices

Weather-essential personnel should report to campus on Tuesday morning, February 24. The Institute’s administrative offices will operate remotely for the morning and open on campuses in the afternoon. Non-essential staff with concerns about traveling safely should contact their supervisors to arrange their work schedule.

Pratt Institute Libraries

All access to the libraries will be remote for the morning and will open on campuses at 12 PM.
