REGARDING TODAY’S EVENTS IN OUR NATION’S CAPITOL

Dear Pratt community,

I have watched today’s events unfold in our nation’s Capitol right along with you. While it is difficult to say what will come next, I want to assure you that Pratt’s senior administration and I understand the stress this must be causing our community and to offer our support. 

Pratt Institute affirms our commitment to democratic and constitutional processes, peaceful and orderly transition of power, and condemns unlawful behavior of the kind we have witnessed today. 

At this moment, I share my particular concerns for those members of our Pratt community in the Washington DC area, and hope for your safety. I encourage everyone in the Pratt community to be mindful of your families and yourselves, and to reach out to the people you trust for support. Pratt counseling services are available to students from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday at 718-687-5451. Faculty and staff can seek support through Human Resources at 718-636-6787.

We expect that this moment will pass and our Congress will be able to carry out its constitutional duty. We look to the coming days for the peace and wisdom our nation so deeply needs and the leadership for a positive future together.
