Farm to Campus
What Is Farm To Campus?
Farm to Campus started in Fall 2020 as a recipient of funds awarded by the Strategic Planning Oversight Committee. During the Fall and Spring semesters, fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, and seasonal items like maple syrup and honey are delivered to Pratt’s Brooklyn campus for purchase.
Where Does The Produce Come From?
All produce is grown primarily by regional farmers and sourced through GrowNYC, a sustainability resource for all New Yorkers interested in food access, conservation, green spaces, and education.
Produce availability changes according to season and yield from participating farms. Customers will not be able to choose what items are ordered, nor will they know what will be available the following week prior to payment.
How Can I Participate?
Interested community members wishing to participate should come to a Tuesday pick-up between 11am-2pm with a credit or debit card to sign up for the following week. All payments must be made in person and in advance the week before. (for example: a customer who wants to pick up on February 22nd must pay in person on February 15th). A produce bag is $14 and additional items like eggs, honey, and maple syrup may be available at an additional cost.
Fall 2022 pick-ups will occur in the Pratt Chapel until further notice. We ask all customers to please wear a mask before entering the building.
Participants are expected to bring their own reusable grocery bag for their items. Brown paper bags will be available for purchase if customers forget to bring their own.
Do I Have To Participate Every Week?
All payments must be made in advance and customers pay for one week at a time. Farm to Campus is flexible. If you don’t plan on participating every week, you can sign up and pay for the following week. You will not be asked to pay for a week if you do not plan to attend.
If someone pays ahead of time and does not arrive to collect their bag during the pick-up window, their bag will be donated.
I Want To Participate But Cannot Attend At This Time. May I Coordinate A Pick-up Outside Of Normal Hours?
Out of respect for our workers’ schedules, we will not accommodate pick-ups outside of the Tuesday 11am-2pm timeframe. If you have a colleague, roommate, or friend with campus access who is willing to retrieve your bag during this window, you may send them in your place.
We will not deliver bags to offices or outside of the Pratt gates.
