Earlier this year, Megan Lighty (B.I.D. ’17) was selected to design the award for Legends 2016, Pratt Institute’s annual scholarship benefit honoring icons of art and design whose works have helped shape the cultural landscape.

Pratt’s Department of Industrial Design works with the Division of Institutional Advancement each year on the annual Legends award design project. Adjunct Assistant Professor of Industrial Design and Pratt alumnus Alvaro Uribe (B.I.D. ’10) chose Lighty to design the 2016 award based on her skills and humanistic approach to design, and worked with her through every stage of the project, from concept through completion.

In this short video, Lighty shares the inspiration for her design and provides a window on the process of creating the finished aluminum and alabaster award.
