Pratt Institute will present a panel discussion, “Women of Influence in the Business of Art,” during Art Basel Miami Beach on December 3 as part of the Pratt Presents public program series. The panel begins at 11 AM at the elegantly designed EDITION Hotel, and is preceded by a reception at 10:30 AM. Also, all attendees are invited to attend a post-event reception with champagne cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres from noon to 1 PM. The panel will feature an exclusive group of influential women who have had a profound impact on the art world and who are shaping its future. Renowned visual artists Shirin Neshat and Pratt alumna Mickalene Thomas (B.F.A. ’00), and Heidi Zuckerman, director of the Aspen Art Museum, will explore the qualities that define a new generation of female artists and leaders in art, as well as the many different ways in which they have achieved success, despite obstacles and prevailing inequalities. Stefano Tonchi, editor, W magazine, will be the moderator.

This panel discussion is the second Pratt Presents event featuring female leaders from the areas of art and design exploring issues related to the impact and success of women in their field. Last spring, Pratt presented “Women of Influence in the Business of Style,” featuring female fashion leaders in a conversation about leading change in the fashion industry.

The “Women of Influence in the Business of Art” event at the EDITION Hotel will be Located in Mid-Beach—the historic “heart of Miami Beach” between South Beach and North Beach. Sponsorship for this free and public event is provided by: Simon Property Group (presenting sponsor) and Perrier-Jouët (champagne sponsor). W magazine is the media partner.

The program is free and open to the public; reservations are required.
