Pratt Undergraduate Communications Design sophomore Diego Torres was honored with a 2009 Worldstudio AIGA Scholarship at the professional association for design’s September 17 fundraising gala in Manhattan.
Torres was one of four honored with the Worldstudio AIGA Scholarship in Illustration and Cartooning, and was one of 24 whose work was selected from among the 700 applications received across the 10 awards categories from students attending art and design programs at colleges and universities across the country.
Torres’ anatomical illustrations have been published in Best of College Photography Annual 2009 by Photographer’s Forum Magazine and in Coastlines Literary Magazine of Florida Atlantic University. His accolades include a Scholar Award with Honor from the College Board AP; a Scholastic Art & Writing Award from the Alliance of Young Artists & Writers; and a nomination by The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Torres has interned at the Norton Museum of Art, West Palm Beach, Fla; and the Jaffe Center for the Book Arts, Florida Atlantic University.
Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships benefit minority and economically disadvantaged art and design students in the United States; recipients are selected for their creative abilities and demonstrated commitment to larger communities through their work.
