Martina Mrongovius is an artist and designer working with the art and technology of holographic media. Her best known artworks are installations of spatially animated holographic images that capture the urban experience of landscape. Her exhibitions have been presented by galleries and museums in Berlin, Seoul, Melbourne, Cologne, Ghent and New York as well as group shows in Taiwan, Canada, UK and Portugal Mrongovius is the Creative Director and staff curator for the Center for the Holographic Arts – HoloCenter in New York. She has worked with numerous artists to produce major holographic works including holograms for a CubeSat satellite. Collaboratively she has developed a number of large scale participatory art experiences, including the comic book adventure game ‘the wave collapses’ across Melbourne in 2006 for Next Wave Festival. Her academic teaching included RMIT University, Korea National University of Arts, Kun Shan University in Taiwan and Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Germany before joining Pratt Institute. She has developed workshops for The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Socrates Sculpture Park and Urban Glass to enable engagement with imaging.
