Biography

I am an industrial designer born in Venezuela, with a Master's Degree in Product Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil and a specialization in Bionics. I have worked in several areas of the field of design and developed projects of consumer products, urban furniture, objects, signage systems, exhibitions and visual communication projects, for companies, public and private institutions and government institutions.

I worked as a product designer and researcher at the Brazilian Industrial Design Laboratory, on the island of Florianopolis in Brazil. In Caracas, I had the opportunity to work on projects of great relevance such as the creation of the Estancia Art Center, the design of surfaces for the Macagua Hydroelectric Complex, the surveillance booths and the signposting of the University City of Caracas and the Andean Pavilion Amazon for Expo Aichi 2005 (Japan). In 1999, I co-founded the Metaplug design studio in Caracas.

Professor for 15 years in Prodiseno - School of Visual Communication and Design - in Caracas and its Director from 2004 to 2009, where I was involved with academic projects and research on minimal structures, products, interface design, information design and Thesis projects. I have been invited lecturer, lecturer and workshop instructor at national and international universities, as Project Leader at Interdesign MTY 09.

In the area of diffusion and promotion of design, I have participated in curating industrial design exhibitions and since 1994 I have written articles in newspapers and specialized magazines. I am the General Editor of the DIconexiones, a space dedicated to industrial design issues. Also, I have been invited to participate as a Jury in Prizes and design competitions, such as Design Excellence Brazil 2010 or Observeur du Design 2014, the National Award for Industrial Design in France. I have been a member since 2007 of the Advisory Committee of the Ibero-American Biennial of Design in Madrid.
