Irina Schneid, AIA, IIDA, is an architect, educator, and social impact designer. She is the Founder and Principal of Scharc Studio LLC and Impact Wrkshp, a social advocacy organization for women in design. Through both her teaching and practice Irina challenges traditional models of spatial occupation, looking instead towards the kinetic, the transient, and the collective as strategies for urban dwelling. Her research asks how we can harness the tactics employed by the sharing economy to change the way we think about the spaces we inhabit. Irina has lectured and taught internationally, having held teaching appointments at Barnard College, Columbia University, Tyler School of Art, Drexel University, NYIT, and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Melbourne, Australia. Irina has been profiled on Madame Architect and the Design Voice Podcast, and her work has been featured in Designboom, Archdaily, and Possible City. Irina is a registered architect in New York and New Jersey, and is NCARB certified.
