Biography

Tara Hart is an archivist who currently serves as Managing Archivist at the Whitney Museum of American Art. She has held positions within a number of libraries, museums, and arts organizations in New York City, including the Fales Library & Special Collections at NYU, the Public Art Fund, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Prior to joining the Whitney, Hart worked at the New Museum, where she oversaw the development and launch of the institution’s online Digital Archive and co-organized “XFR STN,” an exhibition and artist-centered media archiving project. Her writing has been published in Archive Journal, Metropolitan Archivist, and GLQ: A Journal of Lesbian and Gay Studies. She holds an M.S. in Library and Information Science from Pratt Institute and a B.A. in Visual Arts from UC San Diego.
