Claudia Mausner holds a doctorate in environmental psychology, an interdisciplinary field working at the interface of behavioral and social sciences, natural resource management, planning and design. In her scholarly research Dr. Mausner used theories of multi-sensory perception to study how people experience nature in real-world settings. Before arriving at Pratt, Dr. Mausner was adjunct associate professor at Pace University's Department of Environmental Studies and Health Sciences, where she developed unique interdisciplinary courses on behavior and attitude change for sustainable living. Prior to joining Pace's faculty, she lectured at Manhattanville and Albertus Magnus College on the subjects of public open space, place attachment, privacy, territoriality and environment stress. As a consultant on a wide range of community-based environmental projects, Dr. Mausner combines academic knowledge of the person-environment relationship with her unique skillset in team facilitation, outreach, public engagement, communication and qualitative research. She has been called a "visionary" who translates academic theory into action by identifying creative solutions and engaging with diverse stakeholders for successful on-the-ground implementation.
