John Passmore is the Director of Streaming and On Demand Architecture at WNYC. He was previously the Archives Manager at New York Public Radio where he managed the preservation and restoration of historic audio recordings. Prior to NYPR, John worked with a number museums and galleries on the restoration, exhibition, and acquisition of archival audiovisual artwork. John has also worked at Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, Anthology Film Archives, has been a studio and touring musician, and regularly serves as a video inspector and film repair specialist at international film festivals. Lately, his work is increasingly focused on optical media preservation and to the potential of 3D printing to rescue archives from hardware obsolescence.
