Bridget Anderson is the NYC Department of Sanitation’s Deputy Commissioner for Recycling and Sustainability. She is responsible for the development, implementation, and tracking of DSNY’s sustainability initiatives, with particular focus on recycling, composting, reuse, and waste reduction. In addition to traditional recycling, Ms. Anderson oversees the agency’s collection and drop off programs for HHW, ewaste and textiles. She also oversees the agency’s research and support of the local reuse sector, including the launch last year of donateNYC a website and mobile app to connect donors and recipients of gently used and surplus goods, and surplus food. Most recently, she oversees the public facing roll out of NYC Organics, the city’s new organics collection program that serves 3.5 million New Yorkers.
