Dr. Giannini, is a tenured full Professor, serving as Dean of Pratt School of Information from 2004-2017. Her research focuses on digital culture and GLAM (Galleries, Archives, Libraries and Museums). Through her leadership, the School was transformed to the School of Information. Aligning with the Institute's focus on arts, culture and humanities, she created and introduced innovative new programs including: Advanced Certificates in Archives 2004, in Museum Libraries 2005, in Conservation and Digital Curation 2016, a Dual Master's with Digital Arts 2008 (receiving an innovation award from NASED) and an MS Museums + Digital Culture 2015. A pioneer in digital cultural heritage, Giannini was awarded four large IMLS grants for programs to prepare information professionals for the digital age: GATEWAI (Graduate Archives Training and Education, Work and Information- M-LEAD-I (Museum Library Education and Digitization) and M-LEAD II, and CHART (Cultural Heritage: Access, Research and Technology), which produced the Brooklyn Visual Heritage Website. She is co-editing with Prof. Jonathan Bowen the book, Museums and Digital Culture: New Perspectives and Research to be published by Springer Nature in 2019. A member of EVA (Electronic Visualization and the Arts) London's Organizing Committee and Coordinator of EVA International Conferences, she is also contributing a chapter to the Rutledge Guide to the Digital Humanities.
