Interests include: philosophy, musicology, and cultural criticism, particularly in interdisciplinary and culturally comparative contexts.
I teach in Social Science and Cultural Studies, and in Graduate Communications Design. I often teach topics that apply theoretical contexts to current affairs, popular culture, and music industries, with emphasis on social justice and power structures. I tend to work with students on projects that explore intersections between theoretical analysis, studio work, and writing.
My current research project is based on fieldwork with musicians in Tehran, and explores conceptual issues to do with the performance of Iranian classical music and its cultural contexts.
