Biography

June Park is NYC based designer with 15+ years experience in commercial interior & lighting design, on projects ranging from corporate offices to high-end retails to multi-family residential buildings. Her main focus in lighting design is how materials, color and lighting interact and shape our perception of the built environment.

She defines lighting design as “designing time and our experience with it". Light is a radiant energy which constantly changes over time from day to night and season to season, and affects our perceptual experience of it. She believes good lighting design should take into account our perception & emotion changes with light over time. Her Graduate Thesis of design research paper “Unfolding Light: In Search of its Pure Form and Movement” was focused on visual representation of the dynamic aspect of light within time changes. She won Parsons MFA Lighting Design Thesis Award, Award of Merit in n and IES Illumination The Richard Kelly Grant with this research.

As a cat lover, her most inspiring lighting experience was watching her cat wandering by the windowsill as the sun moved to keep himself inside lighted spots.

She is also a Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor in search of how to lift and lighten up others lives through mindfulness practices.
