Biography

Joe Hemway was selected as Pratt Institute's first Vice President of Information Technology & Chief Information Officer in June of 2006. He has accumulated over 30 years of experience in higher education administration and technology while holding positions of increasing managerial responsibility. The role of the position is to provide technology leadership, vision, planning, budgeting, management and evaluation for the Institute. Joe's areas of responsibility include: all administrative and academic computing efforts, management of Pratt's digital communications, web space and portals, educational technology, telecommunications and all support services. He began his career in technology support of fundraising activities at Pace University and Barnard College. After his scope of responsibilities was expanded at Barnard, he assumed roles that covered all technology areas at Monroe College and St. Francis College. Joe received his Masters Degree in Information Systems from Pace University's Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems and his Bachelors Degree from St. Francis College. He has served on the Alumni Board of Directors at St. Francis College since 2007 and was President of the Board for two terms from 2008 to 2014. His other philanthropic/humanitarian activities include a range of disaster relief response efforts and fundraising for children with severe illnesses and their families.
