Biography

Laura Pawson is a working artist and educator from Brooklyn, New York. Currently, she is an Education and Visual Arts professor at Pratt Institute, York College and LaGuardia Community College. Laura Pawson is also an Assistant Principal at a high school in New York City. She is a graduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she studied fibers and material studies, photography and painting. Her work explores social constructs in regards to racial identity and the chaos of urban spaces. She has a Masters degree in Education from Long Island University and a Masters in School Building and District Leadership from the College of Saint Rose. Pawson is committed to social justice and change and dreams of one day opening an international visual arts school and gallery in New York City.
