Akosua Adoma Owusu is a Ghanaian-American filmmaker and producer whose films address the collision of identities, where the African immigrant located in the United States has a "triple consciousness". Owusu's films have screened internationally in festivals like International Film Festival Rotterdam, Locarno International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, New Directors/New Films (New York) and the BFI London Film Festival. She has received numerous fellowships and grants including the Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists, Guggenheim Foundation, Knight Foundation, Creative Capital, MacDowell Colony, Camargo Foundation, the Goethe-Institut Salvador-Bahia, and the Residency project at Villa Sträuli in Switzerland. Owusu's work is included in permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Centre Pompidou, and the Fowler Museum.
