Selections features a collection of works by Photography faculty John Lehr, Sarah Palmer, Sara Greenberger Rafferty, and Anna Shteynshleyger.

Bios

John Lehr

John Lehr has exhibited at Kate Werble Gallery, M+B Gallery, Hagedorn Foundation Gallery, the Morgan Library and Museum, Walker Art Center, Carnegie Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, Corcoran Gallery of Art. His work is included in collections at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Morgan Library and Museum, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Yale University Art Gallery. He received his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and MFA from Yale University School of Art. He is an Assistant Professor of Photography at Pratt Institute.

Sarah Palmer

Sarah Palmer received her MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts in 2008, where she was awarded an Aaron Siskind Scholarship, and her BA from Vassar College in 1999. Her work has been exhibited in the United States and in Europe, at the Center for Photography at Woodstock, Like the Spice Gallery, satellite exhibitions at the New York Photo Festival in 2009 and 2011, and Foam_fotografiemuseum, Amsterdam, in summer 2011, among other galleries and museums. Her photographs and writing have been published in print and online journals, and in exhibition catalogs, and she was recently featured on Women in Photography, an online archive and exhibition space. She contributed an essay and visual dialogue to Foam‘s What’s Next project and in Spring 2012, wrote the catalogue essay for the Portland, Oregon exhibition Gazed Upon, curated by Amy Elkins. In late 2011, her work was published in Foam Album 11 and a feature story appeared about her work appeared in China’s VISION magazine in early 2012. She is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography at Pratt Institute.

Sara Greenberger Rafferty

Sara Greenberger Rafferty has exhibited widely since 2001, including solo exhibitions at MoMA PS1, New York; The Kitchen, New York; Eli Marsh Gallery at Amherst College, Massachusetts; Fine Arts Center Gallery at University of Arkansas; and a commissioned sculpture for the Public Art Fund. Gloves Off, the first traveling survey of her work with accompanying fully illustrated catalogue published by SUNY Press, completed a three-venue tour last year.

The artist was included in the 2014 Whitney Biennial and the 2014 Hammer Biennial in addition to group shows at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, Oregon; Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, California; and The Jewish Museum, New York, among many others. Her work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Rafferty is Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Photography at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.

Anna Shteynshleyger

Anna Shteynshleyger grew up in Moscow, USSR and immigrated to the US in 1992. She received her BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art and her MFA from Yale University School of Art. She has had solo presentations at 57W57ARTS, The Renaissance Society, the University of Chicago, Dvir Gallery, Tel Aviv, Israel and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL. She has shown widely in group contexts at institutions including The Suburban Gallery, Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, International Center of Photography, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The Jewish Museum, New York and Murray Guy Gallery, New York, among many others. Shteynshleyger is a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation award. She lives in Brooklyn, NY where she is an Associate Professor of Photography at Pratt Institute.
